Best Bathrobe Reviews
1. Richie House Women’s Bathrobe
We’ll kick off the list with this soft and fluffy bathrobe from Richie House. It is definitely and obviously from the prettier end of the design spectrum, but could it be the right robe for you?
This gown boasts a 100% polyester construction. It has been brushed for a very soft and warm finish. It is available in seven different colors but is only available in two sizes. The product comes with a cord and a hood as extras. The hood itself boasts a very cute face with little ears.
What's to like about the Richie House Women’s Bathrobe
If you want a robe that is very, very cute, then this could be a winner! The hood, with its little ears, is adorably sweet. The body of the bathrobe is also very soft and fluffy. Again, this gives the robe a very charming appearance, tying in nicely with the little ears.
Still, it also has a practical purpose. The 100% polyester has been brushed for a soft and warm finish. This makes for a bathrobe that is extremely nice against the skin, while also being able to keep you warm. It’s also nice to see that it is available in six colors, which makes it easier to choose a robe that you really like.
What's not to like about the Richie House Women’s Bathrobe
While we personally really like the design, we will happily admit that it may not be to everyone’s taste. If you don’t like the idea of walking around your home with cute little bear ears (which is nothing to be ashamed of!), then you will be able to find an equally soft and warm robe out there without little ears.
It’s also slightly disappointing to see that the design is only available in two sizes. That could make it a little harder to find the right size for some people.
2. Robes King Classical Sleepwear Robe
Our next robe is very different from what we just reviewed! The cute bear ears are replaced with a more conservative checkered design for a set of bathrobes that are definitely designed with a more male wearer in mind.
This robe is made of a material blend, boasting a 55% cotton and 45% polyester mix. It is available across eight different colors and four different sizes. It is a male design, so it does come up quite long on the body.
This robe includes two front pockets and a waist tie with a cord or matching material to the main robe. The robe is machine washable in warm water.
What's to like about the Robes King Classical Sleepwear Robe
This is a very high-quality men’s robe. It is of a traditional design and cut that provides for a classic looking robe. The material blend is extremely high quality too. The polyester and cotton combination make for a bathrobe that is tough and hard-wearing but also soft and comfortable.
The cotton element of the blend also means it is very breathable. That could make it a good choice for men who find thicker robes too hot.
The styling is attractive but understated for an elegant design. If you really like the design, it’s good to know that there are also matching pajamas available from the same manufacturer.
What's not to like about the Robes King Classical Sleepwear Robe
As we said, it is a very breathable bathrobe, making it ideal for people who find traditional robes a little too warm. At the same time, however, it is also quite thin and lightweight. Thus, people who are looking for thickness and warmth may be a little disappointed with this robe. Don’t expect it to keep you too warm on a cold winter’s morning.
As a male cut, it also comes up quite lengthy on the body, designed to stop just above the ankle. This could make it harder to find a size for smaller men that does not drag along the ground.
3. Too Cool 2 Sleep Big Boys’ Buffalo-Check Robe
Let’s hope that the name of this brand is not too accurate, as no one wants their kids not to sleep because their robe is too cool! Still, we can’t help but wonder. What makes this robe stand out from the rest of the competition? Let’s find out!
This robe is available in five colors and five sizes. They come with a built-in hood and cord, and the package also includes a free pair of slippers.
What's to like about the Too Cool 2 Sleep Big Boys’ Buffalo-Check Robe
This robe certainly boasts an eye-catching design! Even the more subtle black and silver option is still eye-catching. Hence, if you have kids who like clothes with loud designs, they will surely fall in love with this robe!
The gown is very thick and has a luxurious feel. It is definitely designed to help keep kids warm in colder weather. We like that it comes in five different sizes too, as this makes it easier to find a size that fits.
The free slippers are a nice touch, making this robe more than just a good purchase.
What's not to like about the Too Cool 2 Sleep Big Boys’ Buffalo-Check Robe
The slippers are not that great! It is certainly nice of Too Cool 2 Sleep to include them, but in reality, you will probably throw them away and buy a better pair.
As we mentioned the gown itself is very thick. For very active children, or for those who are living in warmer areas, it could be a little bit too thick and too warm.
4. Leveret Kids Robe
Next up is yet another kids’ robe. The brand states that it is designed for boys, but it has a range of very cute designs that would be suitable for a girl or a boy. Do you think this might be the best robe for your child?
This set of robes is available across no less than 15 different designs. It also has a huge range of sizes with robes available for children aged two to 14 years old. The construction is 100% polyester, and the material is resistant to flame. The robes have hoods, as well as cords to close the robe. It can be machine-washed in cold water.
What's to like about the Leveret Kids Robe
We love the range of designs that are available here. They come in a number of attractive colors, and many also have very cute patterns, such as small bears and dinosaurs. The robes are also nice and thick and will do a good job of keeping a child warm.
The 100% polyester construction is lovely and tough, and we were especially happy to see that it is made of flame-resistant material. To us, that is always a good feature to see in kids’ robes. We were also impressed by the big range of sizes available.
What's not to like about the Leveret Kids Robe
The fact that the robe has to be cleaned in cold water is a slight disappointment. Why so? That’s because it will make it harder to shift tougher stains that, as any parent will tell you, are things that kids attract like magnets!
It should also be noted that the sizes do come up a little too small. So, if you are buying for a three-year-old, for example, it could be a good idea to buy a gown for a four- or even a five-year-old.
5. Towel Selections Boys Robe
We’ll finish up with another high-quality robe designed for kids. They are of a more plain design than the kid’s robes we looked at above, but they still bring a lot of other features that are worth mentioning.
This selection of robes has been produced in Turkey and is of a 100% polyester construction. They are available in seven colors and five sizes. Each product has a hood and comes with a detachable cord. They can be machine-washed in warm water.
What's to like about the Towel Selections Boys Robe
This robe is made of a very plush, 100% polyester material, which means that it is lovely and fluffy and perfect for after-bath or during cold mornings. In addition, thanks to the fact that it is made of 100% polyester, it is also nice and tough.
Like the ones we have already reviewed, this robe can also be machine-washed, which makes it easy to care for. Tough and easy to clean are certainly virtues for a piece of clothing designed for kids, especially boys!
There is a decent range of colors with seven available, and the five sizes it comes in mean that there should be a robe that is well-suited to your child. Being made in Turkey, you can rest assured that the material and construction are of good quality.
What's not to like about the Towel Selections Boys Robe
While the range of colors is nice, the overall design is a little dull compared to some other kids’ robes out there. That may well mean less to some kids than others, of course, but if they like cute designs, this may be a little too boring for them.
Sizing wise, the robes can come up a little larger and baggier than some other designs. Again, this may not be a big deal but is still something to bear in mind. Finally, from a practical point of view, it is a shame that the material is not flame-resistant, especially since this is a kid’s robe.
That completes our deep dive review into five of the best bathrobes on the market right now. Now that you have seen them, though, how are you supposed to know which one is the right one for you?
How, indeed? By reading our incredibly helpful guide below, of course! We’ll go through some of the key features to keep an eye out for, and then answer some of the most frequently asked questions out there about these incredibly comforting and highly useful pieces of clothing.
Don’t worry; we’re not here to tell you which is the best color to choose. That is very much a personal choice, but what we do mean here is that if the color is important to you, then you should try to select a style of gown that comes in a wide range of colors.
You can expect a quality robe to come with around five or more color options. Some, though, will feature a heavily patterned style that may come with fewer color options.
Broadly speaking, you are going to see two materials mostly used for bathrobes. Those materials are polyester and cotton. Sometimes, you will see them used individually, especially 100% polyester. You will also sometimes see a blend of the two materials.
Polyester is strong but tough and can be extremely soft if it has been brushed during manufacture. Cotton, as a natural material, is very breathable and also hard-wearing. Again, it can also be nice and soft too.
Most robes are open about what they are made out of, so it is easy to select one made of the materials that you like.
Selecting the size of a dressing gown is, of course, a very personal choice, which is why it is hard for us to give too much information here. Some people, after all, prefer a baggy robe they can wrap around themselves in. On the other hand, there are people who like a closer fit.
Because of this reason, we would suggest that when you are choosing your robe, look for one that is available in a wide range of sizes. In that way,you are more likely to be able to find a robe from among their selection that will suit you best.
Again, we’re not going to tell you which design you go for because this will be a personal choice! Instead, we just want to point out that there is a wide range of designs out there as highlighted on our product guide above.
What does this mean? Well, simply put, it means that if you want a hood, look for a model that has one. If you like solid colors, they are out there. There are also stripes if that is what you like. There is a huge diversity of body and sleeve lengths too, so you should always be able to find a robe that suits what you need.
Does it make a big difference with regard to gender when selecting a robe? To us, yes it can. Then again, this is not necessarily because of the visual design of the robe. If a man wants a fluffy robe, that is up to him. Likewise, if a woman wants a blue, pinstripe bathrobe with no fluff or panda ears, then that is fine too!
The one issue that may come with this is the fact that a gendered bathrobe design will have sizes best suited to that gender. So, a female bathrobe will generally be a little smaller, and a male robe, a little longer. Just bear that in mind.
All the items above are key points to consider when selecting your robe. However, there are a few added extras you can also look out for. Hoods, for example, can be popular with some as they help to keep the head warm. You can also keep an eye out for extras like slippers.
One safety feature that could be very useful is to look for a flame-resistant material, especially in kid’s bathrobes, so as to provide an extra level of safety.
Best Bathrobe FAQs
What size bathrobe should I get?
This is, of course, a very personal question, not the least because we simply don’t know what size you are! What we would suggest is that you consider going about a size above what you normally wear. If you wear a medium t-shirt, try a large bathrobe.
That, evidently, is likely to result in a baggier fit. By doing this, you end up with a bathrobe that is perfectly sized if you wear clothes underneath, like pajamas. That’s just our suggestion, obviously, so feel free to buy a smaller size if you prefer a closer fit.
How to tie a bathrobe?
This may well seem like a simple question, but it actually depends on a few variables. We bet you didn’t see that coming, huh. When it comes to tying a bathrobe closed, it really depends on how the bathrobe is designed.
If the bathrobe is designed to have extra material at the front, then you need to take advantage of that! Wrap one side of the robe close to you, then closely wrap-up the second part. Get the cord in place, draw it close, and you will be snug and secure in your comfortable robe!
How to fold a robe?
To be perfectly honest with you, we actually suggest that you don’t fold your robe. A good bathrobe (which, we hope, is what you will end up with right after you finish reading this article) is an item of clothing that will get a lot of wear.
It is going to be the first item of clothing you throw onto your shivering body on a winter’s morning. It will also be balled on the floor, ready to be stepped onto when you climb out of the shower.
It is going to be lived in, to put it bluntly. For this reason, you won’t want to fold it up. It would be better to just hang it up, ideally on a hook on the back of a door. In that way, it can be aired out and can dry naturally. That is really going to help prolong the life of your robe.
How to use a bathrobe?
Using a dressing a gown is simple enough. Put your arms in the right holes, then draw it tight around you with the cord, and away you go! It’s how you use it that is the harder question to answer.
One of the true joys of a bathrobe is its versatility. As we’ve mentioned above, for many people, the bathrobe will be the first piece of clothing they put on in the morning after getting out of bed. For many others, though, it will also be the last thing they wear, perhaps wrapped up in their robe as they watch TV or read a book on the couch.
As their name suggests, they do also have a role to play as a warm piece of clothing to step into right after a relaxing, steamy bath or shower.
What is the purpose of a bathrobe?
A bathrobe can be used in so many situations that it really is quite hard to tie it down to just the one! If we are pushed, though, then we’d say that one of the most important roles of a dressing gown is to act as a piece of utility clothing.
By that, we mean that it is always ready to apply a layer of coverage, heat, and comfort. For example, in the evening after you have taken a bath or shower, you may not want to get dressed again. Throw on your bedclothes and your robe, and you are all set for a comfortable evening.
That’s just one example of course, but it does highlight the utility of the bathrobe.
Choosing the best bathrobe from this list was actually very hard, not only because all of the robes here truly are premium quality, but also because they are designed for different people. So, what are we looking for here? The best robe for children, men, or women?
All of these options are good choices, of course, so we had to narrow it down and select the best overall robe that we liked the most. For us, that was the Richie House Women’s Robe. We loved its cute design, how thick and luxurious it felt, and its price tag that offered real value for money.
And, hey! Who doesn’t want to walk around the house dressed like a little bear all day, right?
